Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited faces Rs 7.23 crore GST demand and penalties from Chennai authorities

Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited has received an Order-in-Original from the GST Authorities in Chennai, dated August 31, 2026, related to a GST audit for fiscal year 2022-23. The order includes demands and penalties totaling Rs 7,23,00,000, encompassing Rs 2,37,99,374 for alleged non-payment of IGST on export services, Rs 1,06,37,269 for ineligible input tax credit, Rs 3,79,519 for supplies to SEZ units, and Rs 3,63,915 for non-reversal of input tax credit; a penalty of Rs 35,18,008 was also imposed. The company noted that a proposed demand of Rs 67,316 was dropped, and interest is also payable. Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited stated that the order is being evaluated and appropriate legal remedies are being considered, with no material impact anticipated on the company's financial or operational activities beyond the extent of the assessed liability.
